Vaalbos National Park | Northern Cape Nature Reserves:

This 20 000 hectare National Park is situated on the banks of the Vaal River between Delportshoop and Barkly West. This is probably one of the most interesting parks in the country as it covers an important transitional zone between Grassveld, Kalahari and Karoo biomes.

This is a unique habitat that is suitable for animals occuring generally in the dryer parts of the country, as well as those from wetter areas. Game that could be seen include Eland, Kudu, Giraffe, Red Hartebeest, Springbok, Buffalo and both Black and White Rhino. Many birds occur in the park.

Facilities include self catering challets.

This park must be included in any visit to the Northern Cape. Special guided tours are offered through the park which could be combined with night drives and a barbeque in the veld. Click here for more details.
